Needle release A needle is used to cut the cord little by little. Under local anesthesia the physician uses a needle to cut and weaken, then break the cord through the skin. Your physician typically does this at multiple places, allowing your fingers to become straighter. Figure: a needle to cut the cord. Advantages- No cuts will be made on your hand;- Recovery is faster than after open surgery. Disadvantages- Only possible if you have a clearly palpable cord;- May not get the finger as straight as after open surgery;- The bend can return faster than after open surgery;20- The bumps remain.
