Pull some of the fluid out with a needle The fluid can be drawn out with a sterile needle. There is still a root connecting it with the joint. Because of this it is possible for the ganglion to return. Advantages The lump goes down for a while and might even stay away; Can be done at an office visit; No scar. Disadvantages Pain of the procedure; The fluid sometimes returns; Small risk of infection.
