What is an olecranon fracture?

The olecranon is the prominent tip of your elbow. The muscle that straightens your elbow (the triceps) attaches to the olecranon. The olecranon can be broken when you fall on your arm.

Signs and symptoms:
People that break the olecranon are tender, swollen, and bruised over the back of the elbow. The elbow hurts to move.

How is an olecranon fracture diagnosed?
An x-ray is obtained to diagnose the fracture.
