Welcome to the PATIENT+ decision aid

How can this decision aid help you?
There are various treatments available for people considering breast reconstructive surgery. This decision aid provides you with the advantages and risks of each treatment. This decision aid helps you prepare for your doctor’s appointment. Together with your doctor you can decide what is the best treatment for you.

At the end you can print this decision aid. This way you can go over it again and discuss everything with your general practitioner, family and friends.

It may very well be possible that not all treatment options apply to your situation. For example, if you are very thin or have overweight, or if you have very small or very large breasts. If you have been treated with radiation therapy, some options may not be suitable for you. You should discuss this with your doctor.

This decision aid only applies to women who are considering breast reconstructive surgery. If you are a man considering reconstructive surgery, please consult your doctor.
